ALL ACADEMICS, STAFF AND STUDENTS AT UC SAN DIEGO

SUBJECT: Follow-Up to Attempted Robbery Timely Warning

This is a follow-up to the Timely Warning sent on January 7, 2016. On that day, at about 6:29 PM, the UC San Diego Police Department received information of an attempt robbery that occurred at about 4:00 PM near Gilman Drive and Via La Jolla Drive (parking lot #406) on the campus of UC San Diego.

The victim reported as she walked northbound on the west sidewalk of Gilman Drive an unknown man attempted to take her purse off her shoulder. The victim’s husband, who was walking with her, punched the suspect. The suspect ran from the scene. The victim last saw him running towards the VA Hospital through parking lot 651.

The suspect was described as a White Male Adult with collar length blonde hair, 20-30 years old, 5’10”- 6’0” in height, with a medium build. He was wearing a light tan or black leather jacket, a gray t-shirt and blue jeans. There were no weapons seen or used in this incident.

The victim worked with police investigators to come up with a composite sketch of the suspect. Please see the attached link below to view the composite sketch of the suspect.
