Appointment of Vince Kellen, PhD as Chief Information Officer (CIO)

Following a comprehensive nationwide search, we are delighted to announce the appointment of Vince Kellen as Chief Information Officer effective June 1, 2016. Dr. Kellen will be a member of the Vice Chancellor & Chief Financial Officer's senior management team and a member of the Chancellor's Cabinet.

Dr. Kellen has twenty-five years of executive level information technology experience with a proven record of strategic planning, improved efficiencies, collaborative relationships with researchers, faculty, staff and students, and innovative applications of information technology in teaching, learning and student success. He served as the Senior Vice Provost for the University of Kentucky and prior to that role he served as the Chief Information Officer for three years.

Prior to arriving at the University of Kentucky, Dr. Kellen was asked to join the Cutter Consortium, a premier Information Technology industry think-tank of 150 experts from across the world, as a Fellow and a Senior Consultant. He also served as the Vice President, Information Systems (CIO) at DePaul University for five years prior to his role at the University of Kentucky. Dr. Kellen has served in an advisory capacity with key organizations in higher education including Educause, Internet2 and the APLU and with leading IT companies.

Dr. Kellen holds a PhD in Computer Science, a Masters in Science in E-Commerce, and a Bachelor of Arts, Communications, all from DePaul University.
