CAMPUS NOTICE

OFFICE OF THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR-
IT INFRASTRUCTURE & OPERATIONS
ACTING CHIEF INFORMATION SECURITY OFFICER

September 23, 2016

ALL ACADEMICS AND STAFF AT UC SAN DIEGO

SUBJECT:    Active Directory Password Reset

In response to the increasing cyber security threats, UC San Diego mandated an annual Active Directory (AD) password change in 2013. This is a reminder that you are required to change your AD password before Friday, October 21, 2016. Changing your password regularly will help reduce the risk of your AD account being used by hackers to access the campus information systems and services, such as email, wireless network, and virtual private networking (VPN).

As of October 21, 2016, AD accounts that have not changed passwords between the period of April 22 and October 21, 2016 will lose access to the University information systems and services if passwords are not changed prior to the October 21st due date.

Please follow the instructions on the campus Blink portal, unless your department systems administrator has given you specific instructions for changing your password. There is a direct link on Blink's main page, or you may search the site using the phrase "AD password reset". Please note that we are deliberately not providing a web link, so that this message is not mistaken as a phishing scam email.

If you have any questions regarding this request, or need further assistance, please contact your department systems administrator(s) or the ITS Helpdesk
(acthelp@ucsd.edu or 858-534-1853).

Thank you for your cooperation with helping to keep our campus secure.
