ALL ACADEMICS, AND GRADUATE STUDENTS AT UC SAN DIEGO

SUBJECT:    Tax Legislation

Dear Colleagues,

I am writing to share information and advocacy materials for the tax legislation that is being negotiated in the US Senate and House of Representatives. This legislation contains many provisions that are of concern to higher education, and it could have a major impact on graduate students, by changing the manner in which student loans are taxed, and, in the House bill, by considering tuition and fees paid on behalf of students taxable income. UCOP sent a letter to Congress earlier this week (link below) with an analysis of the impacts on higher education. The House and Senate are now negotiating the final details of the tax reform legislation.

Now is a great time to reach out to your representatives to share your opinion of this legislation.
