MEMBERS OF THE ACADEMIC SENATE, SAN DIEGO DIVISION

SUBJECT:    Transfer, Consolidation, Disestablishment, and Discontinuance (TCDD) of Academic Programs at UC San Diego

Dear Colleagues:

The following TCDD actions were approved during this fall quarter.

Discontinuation of Four Undergraduate Programs

In accordance with the Division’s Policy and Procedures, "http://senate.ucsd.edu/Operating-Procedures/Senate-Manual/Appendi c es/4, the 2015-16 Undergraduate Council and an Ad Hoc Review Committee considered proposals to discontinue the four undergraduate programs listed below:

· B.S in Engineering Sciences in the Department of Structural Engineering

· B.S. in Chemical Physics in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry

· B.S. in Chemical Education in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry

· B.A. in Classical Studies (Greek and Hebrew Pathway) in the Classical Studies Program

The proposals were put forward by the departments noted above, and the Undergraduate Council and the Ad Hoc Review Committee recommended approval. The Senate Council agreed and approved all TCDD actions at its meeting on September 26, 2016.

Discontinuation of the Department of Psychology B.S./M.A. Program

In accordance with the Divisions’s Policy and Procedures, the 2015-16 Graduate Council and an Ad Hoc Review Committee considered the Department of Psychology’s proposal to discontinue their contiguous B.S./M.A. Program. Graduate Council and the Ad Hoc Review Committee endorsed the proposal. Representative Assembly approved the TCDD action at its meeting on October 11, 2016.
