University of California San Diego’s Earth Month celebration will be taking place on April 1 – 30, 2017 and it will be a month-long celebration of events. This year’s theme -- UC San Diego: Using Science to Protect the Planet -- will be woven into events designed to educate and engage the campus and surrounding community, and will focus on sustainability, environmentalism, and taking action against the threat of climate change. The series of UC San Diego Earth Month events, planned by our dedicated students and staff, includes:
· The Inter-Sustainability Council’s Second Annual Green Talks
Symposium There will also be various presentations by faculty, DIY activities hosted by student sustainability ambassadors, participation in San Diego’s March for Science, and sustainability, community, job and life science fairs. To view the full calendar of events, visit http://sustain.ucsd.edu. All events are free and open to the public, unless otherwise noted. In order to allow employees the opportunity to participate in a UC San Diego Earth Month activity, one hour of administrative leave with pay has been approved. All managers and supervisors are encouraged to allow employees to attend, as long as the absence does not infringe upon the performance of required job duties or patient care. Sustainability is an integral part of UC San Diego’s education, research and campus operations. To learn more about our ongoing efforts, visit http://sustain.ucsd.edu.
