New Electronic Financial Expense Report (eFER) Tool

The Office of Post Award Financial Services (OPAFS) is proud to announce the launch of a new online electronic tool to support the financial administration of the more than 4,000 research awards at UCSD. The eFER tool is a new module of the Sponsored Projects Accounts Receivable and Cash Management (SPARCM) System and is now available for departments to submit their final award expenditures online to OPAFS. This tool replaces the manual Excel and e-mail process bringing efficiencies throughout campus.

eFER will automatically send notifications to PIs and department staff of upcoming reports due helping to proactively close awards, saving approximately 30% of the effort spent per report, and ensuring that all allowable sponsored research costs are reimbursed.

eFER was developed as a team and is the product of the ongoing partnership with department fiscal staff and OPAFS award accountants in conjunction with the ITS Research team and we would like to thank them for their work.
