SUBJECT:    CONSTRUCTION ALERT – Osler Parking Structure, Lot P604, School of Medicine

Project Description/Location:

The Osler Parking Structure is to be constructed at Lot P604 in the School of Medicine neighborhood. The anticipated start date for construction is Monday, June 19, 2017. The work is scheduled to be completed in August of 2018.

The Osler Parking Structure will have a capacity of approximately 1,300 cars, will contain electrical vehicle charging stations and will have a secured bicycle storage area. The Osler Parking Structure is designed to relieve immediate parking capacity issues and is part of a larger master plan for the construction of additional parking structures on the main campus. As part of the overall project, the Visitor’s Center will be replaced with a new structure.

Immediate Street Traffic, Bike Lane, and Pedestrian Impacts:

The bicycle lanes and pedestrian sidewalks along Gilman Drive and Osler Lane will be impacted by this work due to construction vehicles entering and exiting the work area. Parking Lot P604 will be closed permanently for the construction of the Parking Structure. At times, portions of Gilman and Osler will be impacted for necessary road improvements. Flagmen will be present during these times to direct traffic. Please see the attached map for the impacted areas.

The existing Visitors Center along Gilman Drive will remain in full operation and accessible until Monday, June 19, at which time it will be permanently closed for construction. Signage will be provided to direct visitors to a temporary Visitors Center at the Gilman Parking Garage.

Please see Parking Alternatives for information regarding parking alternatives and transportation options during the construction of the parking structure.
