ALL ACADEMICS, STAFF, AND STUDENTS AT UC SAN DIEGO

SUBJECT:    Getting to Campus June 16

We understand that many students, faculty and staff will need to be on campus Friday, June 16 for finals or to conduct other university business. With parking and traffic expected to be greatly impacted due to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama’s momentous visit, here are some suggestions to help you get to campus that day:

Best Options for Getting to Campus:

· Take Public Transportation: MTS and NCTD bus routes will be operating normally so consider taking a bus to campus. Check the MTS (https://www.sdmts.com/) and NCTD (http://www.gonctd.com/) websites for schedules, alerts and more information.

· Use Rideshare Services: Uber and Lyft will have a designated drop-off location at the Sanford Consortium parking lot, located near the corner of North Torrey Pines Road and Torrey Pines Scenic Drive. Check the Transportation Services website at http://transportation.ucsd.edu for up-to-date drop-off and pick-up locations as the event approaches.

· Ride a Bike or Carpool: This will help minimize the amount of traffic in the area.

· Arrive before 7 a.m.: This will provide you with the best access to available parking lots around campus.

Where to Park/Campus Entry Points

If you need to arrive after 7 a.m. and must use a personal vehicle, your best options for parking will be on the east and south sides of campus. Use http://maps.ucsd.edu to find parking in these areas. Warren Field will also serve as a parking lot for the day for campus permit holders.

Between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. you will be able to access campus at the following entry points:

· Campus Point Drive
· Athena Way
· Health Sciences Drive
· Villa La Jolla
· Gilman Drive
· Revelle College Drive
· La Jolla Shores Drive (southbound toward Revelle only)

Using Campus Shuttles

Campus shuttle routes that will operate normally include East/Regents, Scripps Institution of Oceanography and Hillcrest. The Campus Loop shuttle will have a restricted route. Check shuttle timing and locations at https://ucsdbus.com/

Complete details on traffic and parking impacts expected each day of commencement weekend are available here:

Be sure to allow yourself plenty of extra time to get wherever you need to be on campus and follow all signs and traffic control measures.
