: Annual Summer Celebration Staff Picnic

On behalf of the UC San Diego Staff Association, I am pleased to invite you to this year’s annual All-Staff Picnic on Friday, August 4, 2017 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Town Square. The theme of this year’s picnic is “We are Tritons. We are Staff. Continuing the Nontradition.” The picnic will highlight the commitment of our dedicated staff who help make UC San Diego a world-class university.

The picnic will feature a delicious BBQ, staff association booths and entertainment. Lunch will be provided to staff members who order their free tickets online. This year, ticket distribution will be handled through EventBrite, an online ticketing system that will allow users to print their own tickets. In order to ensure that as many staff as possible may attend the picnic, employees will be limited to one ticket per person.

Tickets will be available beginning at noon on Monday, July 17. Ticket distribution will close at 6 p.m. on Monday, July 24, or when they’ve all been distributed. To request your ticket, visit the Staff Picnic webpage at

Volunteer50 is looking for volunteers to help at the Staff Picnic. All volunteers will receive a lunch ticket. For more information, visit http://volunteer50.ucsd.edu/

I encourage all staff to join us for this appreciation event. In order to attend the picnic, I am approving two hours of administrative leave with pay, and I ask supervisors to allow employees to attend, as long as the absence does not infringe upon the performance of required job duties or patient care.

I would like to thank our Vice Chancellors for their continued support of the picnic. I’d also like to thank the UC San Diego Staff Association and this year’s volunteer Planning Committee for their hard work to organize this enjoyable annual event.
