ALL ACADEMICS, STAFF AND STUDENTS AT UC SAN DIEGO
UC San Diego will host numerous events throughout the month of February to honor Black History Month. We invite all faculty, staff and students to participate in the commemoration. This important observance recognizes and celebrates the achievements and contributions of African Americans throughout U.S. history. This year’s theme is “War and Peace: The Complexity of History, Service, and Activism within the Black Diaspora." Featured events include the Black History Scholarship Brunch Celebration, film screenings, educational seminars and more.
For a complete list of events, please visit: In recognition of this annual event, two hours of administrative leave with pay have been approved for employees to attend a UC San Diego Black History Month activity. Supervisors, upon request, may approve the use of such leave when the absence does not infringe upon the performance of required job duties or patient care. On behalf of the campus community, we would like to express our sincere appreciation to the members of the UC San Diego Black History Month Planning Committee for their leadership and dedication in coordinating this celebration.
