ALL ACADEMICS AND STAFF AT UC SAN DIEGO

SUBJECT:    Stay #Cyberaware with Two-Step Login and LastPass

October is National Cyber Security Awareness Month – a time to ensure that everyone at UC San Diego has the resources they need to stay safer and more secure online. Cybersecurity is our shared responsibility and we all must work together in being #cyberaware.

New tools are available to help you get started: Two-step login and LastPass.

Two-step login increases account security by preventing anyone but you from accessing your account – even if they know the password. You may already be familiar with how it works. Any time you have to enter an additional code sent via text, phone call or email is an example of two-step login. In our case, you can complete the second step via a free smartphone app, phone call or passcode. It’s optional for faculty and staff for now, and will be required in January 2019.

LastPass Enterprise is UC San Diego’s password manager of choice. No more writing down passwords on a sticky note or keeping a spreadsheet on your desktop. Use it to securely manage your university accounts, like Business Systems, Office 365 and more.

To ensure you’ve got the info you need and your questions are answered, we’re conducting a series of informational sessions that cover both two-step login and LastPass Enterprise:

October 9, 1 – 3 pm, Liebow Auditorium
October 19, 10 am – 12 pm Price Center West, Eleanor Roosevelt College room
October 22, 3 – 5 pm, Garren Auditorium
October 30, 10 am – 12 pm, Student Center – Huerta/Vera Cruz
