CAMPUS NOTICE

OFFICE OF THE CHANCELLOR

October 30, 2018

ALL ACADEMICS, STAFF AND STUDENTS AT UC SAN DIEGO (including UC San Diego Health)

SUBJECT:    A Tragic Week in America

A series of tragic, hate-filled events has shaken our country, including two devastating shootings that resulted in the loss of 11 Jewish Americans in Pittsburgh and two African Americans in Kentucky. We join families and friends in grieving the victims of these senseless acts of hatred and discrimination.

As a campus community, UC San Diego joins fellow citizens across our nation and the world in condemning antisemitism, racism and any form violence directed at others because of their identity, ethnicity, race, religion or beliefs. We extend our thoughts and support to all of our faculty, staff and students, and especially those whose communities are most affected.

For those seeking solace, we are here for you. Support resources for faculty, staff and students include Counseling and Psychological Services at https://caps.ucsd.edu or call (858) 534-3755, and the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program at https://blink.ucsd.edu/sponsor/hr/divisions-units/fsap.html or call (858) 534-5523. For Health (including Health Sciences) employees Optum/United Behavioral Health https://www.liveandworkwell.com or call (866) 808-6205 (use company code UCSDMC).

On behalf of UC San Diego, we extend our sincere condolences.
