CONSTRUCTION ALERT – North Torrey Pines Living and Learning Neighborhood: Muir College Drive Closure

Project Description/Location:

The North Torrey Pines Living and Learning Neighborhood is multi-use project that includes six new buildings, complete with student housing, academic spaces, classrooms, lecture halls, retail, dining, and underground parking. The neighborhood will include open space with a bike and pedestrian friendly layout that will welcome students, staff, faculty and visitors to live, learn and work in a community environment. The project is located adjacent to North Torrey Pines Road between Muir College Drive and Muir Lane.

Immediate Parking Lot, Street Traffic, and Pedestrian Impacts:

Beginning December 22, 2018 and lasting through August 2020, Muir College Drive will experience periodic lane closures from North Torrey Pines Road to Scholars Drive South. At times, the entire road will be closed. This effort is being made to help improve vehicular and pedestrian safety while keeping the construction project on schedule.

During the Winter of 2019 and Spring of 2019, one eastbound lane will be closed. One lane in each direction will remain active, allowing vehicular traffic to enter and exit the campus at Muir College Drive. The West Campus Connector shuttle stop #808 (Marshall College East) will remain on Scholars Drive North near P302.

During Summer of 2019, Muir College Drive will be closed in both directions. Vehicular traffic will be detoured to Pangea Drive. The West Campus Connector shuttle stop #808 (Marshall College East) will be relocated near Scholars Drive North and Pangea Drive.

During Fall of 2019, Winter of 2020, and Spring of 2020, Muir College Drive will be reopened to shuttle buses only. All other vehicular traffic will be detoured to Pangea Drive. The West Campus Connector shuttle stop #808 (Marshall College East) will be relocated back to Scholars Drive North near P302.

During Summer of 2020, Muir College Drive will be closed in both directions. Vehicular traffic will be detoured to Pangea Drive. The West Campus Connector shuttle stop #808 (Marshall College East) will be relocated near Scholars Drive North and Pangea Drive.
