ACADEMIC SENATE: SAN DIEGO DIVISION

April 2, 2018

MEMBERS OF THE ACADEMIC SENATE, SAN DIEGO DIVISION

SUBJECT:    Fall Quarter 2018 Withdrawal Deadline for Undergraduate Students

Dear Colleagues,

At its June 6, 2017 meeting, the Representative Assembly approved a proposal from the Educational Policy Committee to amend San Diego Senate Regulations 500 and 501. This amendment moves the withdrawal deadline for undergraduate students from the end of week nine to the end of week six, starting in Fall Quarter 2018. The approved change will stabilize enrollment earlier in the quarter, while providing undergraduate students with sufficient time to determine whether to remain in the course. Instructors are reminded to start planning so they are able to give students feedback on how they are doing in their class by the end of the sixth week of the quarter.

The end of the fourth week will remain unchanged as the deadline to drop a course or withdraw from the University without the course appearing on the transcript. The changes do not impact the withdrawal deadlines for graduate students.

EPC’s proposal with the complete text of the approved revisions to Regulations 500 and 501 is available at:
