SUBJECT:CONSTRUCTION ALERT – Osler Parking Structure, Lot P604, School of Medicine - Right of Way Improvements

Project Description/Location:

The Osler Parking Structure is currently under construction at Lot P604 in the School of Medicine neighborhood. Construction began in June of 2017 and the work is scheduled to be completed in August of 2018.

The Osler Parking Structure will have a capacity of approximately 1,300 cars. The Osler Parking Structure is designed to relieve immediate parking capacity issues and is part of a larger master plan for the construction of additional parking structures on the main campus. As part of the overall project, the Visitor’s Center will be replaced with a new structure.

Immediate Street Traffic, Bike Lane, and Pedestrian Impacts:

As the project nears completion, construction is required in the right of ways adjacent to the project. Beginning in early April, portions of sidewalk, bike lanes, and the vehicular drives at Gilman and Osler will be impacted for necessary road improvements. Access will be provided at all times, watch for signage and traffic control. Pedestrians should utilize the sidewalk on the west side of Gilman Drive. Bicyclists should dismount at the construction detour area and utilize the sidewalk on the west side of Gilman Drive until north of Osler, then cross Gilman Drive to resume riding on the east side of Gilman Drive northbound. Refer to the map provided in the link below for the impacted areas. Please note that Parking Lot P604 will remain closed for the construction of the Parking Structure.

Please continue to see Parking Alternatives (https://go.ucsd.edu/2H9fj4L) for information regarding parking alternatives and transportation options during the construction of the parking structure.
