Wisdom, Compassion, and Longevity
Symposium of the UC San Diego Center for Healthy Aging

June 6, 2018 9:00 a.m. - 5:15 p.m.
T. Denny Sanford Medical Education and Telemedicine Center (MET)
Main Auditorium, UC San Diego
This year's UC San Diego Center for Healthy Aging Symposium will focus
on wisdom, compassion, and longevity. Please join us on June 6, 2018 to
learn more about these topics.
Wisdom is typically considered to be the fruit of a long life as well as
the accumulation of experiences lived and lessons learned. A concept
rooted in religion and philosophy, wisdom in recent years has been a
subject of scientific research. Our own studies here at the UC San
Diego Center for Healthy Aging have shown that wisdom is a complex human
trait based in distinct regions of the brain. Wisdom is associated with
happiness, well-being, and less loneliness. Just as a patient might
improve their cardiovascular health, at some point we might be able
learn how to boost our wisdom.
Two previous symposiums drew crowds from the community and a lot of
media attention. This year's event will be held on the UC San Diego
campus at the T. Denny Sanford Medical Education and Telemedicine Center
(MET) Auditorium and will feature keynote speakers and multidisciplinary
panels with prominent national and international experts.
