| SUBJECT: | Celebrating Triton Transfer Student Success |
As a student-centered, research-focused, service-oriented public university, UC San Diego is pleased to announce new efforts in support of transfer student success—focused on timely degree completion, high-impact practices, sense of belonging, and preparation for career and/or graduate school opportunities. Recognizing that many talented and accomplished students begin their higher education journey at a community college, each year we ensure that one-third of our entering class are transfer students.
In order to support transfer students, we are pleased to announce an inaugural full-time position dedicated to transfer student success. Reporting to Student Affairs, the Transfer Student Success Program Manager will lead the launch of UC San Diego’s new Transfer Success Hub in partnership with—among others—the undergraduate colleges, Teaching + Learning Commons, University Centers, Associated Students, and the office for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.
Transfer Success Hub
The Transfer Success Hub will immediately enhance UC San Diego’s support
for transfer students through specialized advising, streamlined access
to campus resources, professional development, peer coaching, and
tailored transfer student engagement experiences. The Triton Success Hub
will launch in January 2020, and be housed temporarily in the Biomedical
Library’s events room. It will eventually move to the new Pepper Canyon
West living/learning neighborhood, which is currently under design.
The Transfer Student Success Program Manager and Transfer Success Hub are two of many important initiatives dedicated to fulfilling UC San Diego’s student-centered mission.
National Transfer Student Week
To kick off our transfer student success efforts, we invite you to
participate in the campus’ inaugural National Transfer Student Week,
from October 21-25.
