SUBJECT:    CONSTRUCTION ALERT: New Franklin Antonio Hall in Warren College: Construction begins December 23, 2019 with February 2022 Completion

Project Description / Location:

Construction of the new Franklin Antonio Hall in the Warren College Neighborhood begins Monday, December 23, 2019, with anticipated completion by February 2022. The project will be located in the existing P502 Parking Lot and construction will occur Monday through Friday, between 7:00 am and 4:00 pm.

Franklin Antonio Hall is being designed from the ground up to facilitate cross-discipline collaborations that are critical for solving the toughest health, energy, autonomy and security challenges facing society. The new building will be approximately 187,000 gross square feet and will house multiple interdisciplinary research collaborators, an Executive Outreach Center, a 275-seat auditorium, two 100-seat general-purpose classrooms, a student activity center and a small café in the building. The design will target a LEED Platinum Rating and will include a variety of energy saving systems, including a condensate recovery system, roof mounted photovoltaic panels, high efficiency glazing, and exterior shading systems.

Immediate Parking Lot Closure, and Vehicular, Bicycle and Pedestrian Impacts:

The P502 Parking Lot will be permanently closed on December 23, 2019. Voigt Drive and Equality Lane will remain open throughout construction. Vehicular traffic can expect intermittent delays due to construction traffic entering and exiting the job site and ongoing road improvements. All Pedestrians and bicycle traffic will be diverted to the south side of Voigt, where sidewalks and bicycle lanes will remain open. Signage will identify detours and alternate routes and Flaggers will be present during construction hours to direct traffic. Please proceed with caution when traveling in this area and allow additional time for travel.
