SUBJECT:    Director Search for the Kavli Institute for Brain and Mind (KIBM)

A search is now underway for the position of UC San Diego Co-Director of the Kavli Institute for Brain and Mind (KIBM), an Organized Research Unit at UC San Diego. The Co-Director will report to the Vice Chancellor for Research.

Responsibilities of the Co-Director include:
- Intellectual leadership and direction for the Center’s research, educational, and campus-wide service activities,
- Administrative and managerial oversight of the Center, and
- Promotion of the scholarly activities of the Center at UC San Diego

Qualifications include:
- Superior teaching and research record,
- Some record of activity associated with KIBM, and
- Demonstrated contributions to the campus community, including efforts to promote diversity, equity and inclusion, and the UC San Diego Principles of Community.

Eligibility is restricted to those individuals holding tenured faculty appointments at UC San Diego. It is anticipated that the initial appointment will be for a five-year term from July 1, 2020 to June 30, 2025. By design, the other Co-Director will be appointed by the Salk Institute.

The search committee is Andrea Chiba (Professor, Cognitive Science), Dilip Jeste (Professor, Psychiatry), and Alysson Muotri (Professor, Pediatrics).
