SUBJECT:    CONSTRUCTION ALERT – Voigt Drive Improvements & Campus Point Drive Realignment PH 1- Overnight Closures for Utility Installations: Winter Break (12.15.19 thru 1.5.20)

Project Location/Description:

Phase 1 of the Voigt and Campus Point Drive Improvements Project will continue with utility installations along Voigt Drive. Construction work will occur over UC San Diego’s winter break (December 15 through January 5) between the hours of 8:00pm to 6:00am each night, in an effort to reduce impact to travelers, staff, and to alleviate congestion during peak traffic hours.

Immediate Parking Lot, Street Traffic, and Pedestrian Impacts:

During evening construction hours, a portion of Voigt Drive will close, between Campus Point Drive and the Scripps Hospital entrance. Vehicles, bicycles, and pedestrians will be detoured around the construction area using Campus Point Drive, Medical Center Drive, the new Gilman Bridge, and Gilman Drive. Scripps Hospital patients can use The Scripps Hospital Driveway, which will remain open during construction. Emergency vehicles will have full access to Scripps Medical Centers during construction hours. Flaggers will be present at both entrances of the construction area to help manage the emergency vehicle traffic and safely escort them through the construction site. Parking lot P701 will remain accessible at all times.

In an effort to provide advanced notice to frequent travelers of the area, large electrical messaging boards will be placed along Voigt Drive one week in advance of the work, confirming the dates and times of the closures.
