ALL ACADEMICS AND STAFF AT UC SAN DIEGO

SUBJECT:    UC OATS Now Live at UC San Diego

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce the UC San Diego University of California Outside Activities Tracking System (UC OATS) portal is now live and available for outside activities entry, review, and approval at the following link:
https://ucsd.ucoats.org/

Further, we invite you to view a brief video that will enhance your understanding of UC OATS as a new faculty system on this campus:

UC OATS is mandatory beginning with your FY 2018-2019 annual disclosures. November 1, 2019 is the campus annual disclosures deadline. All faculty members are required to certify annual disclosures in the UC OATS system, even if they plan to certify that they have no annual disclosures to report. Effective immediately, requests for pre-approval for Category I designated activities must also be processed in UC OATS.

For faculty, reviewers, and approvers still in need of system and policy training, please note the following upcoming training opportunities:
- By late September, Academic Personnel Services will launch an online training module to be continuously accessible on-demand via UC Learning Center.
- On October 21st, 24th, and 28th live webinars for faculty will be presented via Zoom.

In the future, faculty completion of formal conflict of commitment policy and UC OATS system training via in person, webinar, or on-demand training may be tracked as one aspect of certifying compliance. For this reason, it is recommended that you avail yourself of training options that use the UC Learning Center enrollment and tracking system. If you haven't done so already, please visit the UC OATS Training Resources page to formally enroll:

In addition to Conflict of Commitment (COC) requirements, faculty (and other research personnel) are obligated to comply with UC's Export Control Policy and to make appropriate disclosures relative to Conflicts of Interest (COI). Please feel free to contact the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research with any questions regarding COI and/or Export Control.

We look forward to your participation in UC OATS and are delighted to welcome this new, environmentally friendly, Enterprise Systems Renewal system to UC San Diego.
