ALL ACADEMICS, STAFF AND STUDENTS AT UC SAN DIEGO

Subject:    Student VPN Protected by Two-Step Login Starting January 22

I am pleased to announce that student VPN connections will become
protected by two-step login starting January 22, 2020.

To connect to the VPN starting January 22:

1. Select a VPN “Group” with the “2-Step Secured” name prefix.

2. Enter your username and password like normal, then complete two-step
login with your device. The VPN client will show a prompt reading
“Awaiting User Input”.

Visit: https://twostep.ucsd.edu for more details on VPN and two-step login,
including how to use a passcode.

Thank you for your use of two-step login for web applications starting
last October. We now have more than 78,000 two-step login users at UC
San Diego and have seen a 50%-60% reduction in compromised accounts
overall.
