Remote Work Extended Through March 12, 2021
Dear Colleagues,
As campus leaders at UC San Diego continue to assess the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on our operations, safeguarding the health and wellbeing of our students, staff and faculty is at the center of all decision-making. With that in mind, Chancellor Khosla has authorized me to share that employees who are successfully working remotely can continue to do so at least through March 12, 2021 unless otherwise notified by your supervisor. This date aligns with the end of instruction for the winter 2021 quarter.
Social distancing is one of our most powerful tools in slowing the spread of COVID-19. Empowering employees to continue to work from home whenever possible greatly reduces the population density on campus, which helps protect our students, student-facing employees and other essential staff working on site.
The extended remote work timeline will be helpful to employees as they make decisions regarding distance learning, caregiving, childcare and other personal and family obligations. I encourage managers and supervisors to be flexible during this time and work collaboratively with employees who may be navigating new challenges and responsibilities at home.
Thank you to the many critical operations employees who have remained on campus throughout the pandemic. Your service, adaptability and dedication are greatly appreciated. If you have any questions regarding remote work, please work with your supervisor. You can also contact Employee Relations in Campus Human Resources at employeerelations@ucsd.edu.
