SUBJECT:    CONSTRUCTION ALERT – I-5 Switch Station: Parking Lot P510 Impact

Project Location/Description:

The new I-5 Switch Station, located in existing parking lot P510, will provide approximately 3,500 new gross square feet to house medium voltage equipment and control. The facility will provide power to the existing Revelle Switch Station and North Campus Switch Station, and will improve power reliability to the West Campus.

Construction of the I-5 Switch Station has begun on March 23, 2020 with an anticipated completion of May 2021.

Immediate Parking Lot, Street Traffic, and Pedestrian Impacts:

Construction impacts will include closing 32 parking spaces at the East side of parking lot 510. Access to parking lot 510 will not be impacted. Pedestrian impact includes the closing of stair access from Green House Lane to parking lot 510. Accessible pedestrian path is located North of parking lot 510, behind Stuart Collection Work Building.

The aforementioned parking spaces will no longer be available beginning April 13, 2020 and will be unusable until work is completed in May 2021.

Thank you for your patience as we continue to improve the UC San Diego experience.
