OFFICE OF THE VICE CHANCELLOR FOR RESEARCH

June 3, 2020

ALL ACADEMICS AND STAFF AT UC SAN DIEGO

SUBJECT:    Research Town Hall, June 8, 2020

On Monday, June 1, as the initial step in its Research Ramp Up Plan, UC San Diego entered into the Orange Phase of low-density on-site research, scholarship and creative activity. The Orange Phase is designed to only increase on-site research activity for approved faculty, staff and students, while managing health risks associated with SARS-CoV-2. Our first priority is ensuring the health and safety of our UC San Diego community.

The Orange Phase for research activity requires those employees who are able to work remotely to continue to do so, while enabling those whose Research and On-Site Activity plans (https://go.ucsd.edu/3cfBMuU) have been approved by their department chairs and deans to begin the process of ramping up on-site activity.

All on-site activity must meet health and safety protocols as outlined in the UC San Diego Research Ramp Up Guidelines (https://blink.ucsd.edu/research/covid-19/research-ramp-up.html) and be in full compliance with county public health order and CDC guidelines. All those working on site must complete a mandatory, daily self-screening for COVID-19 symptoms prior to reporting for work on-site at any UC San Diego location. To access the on-line screening tool and register, visit https://blink.ucsd.edu/go/screening.

In order to answer questions about the Research Ramp Up Plan, we will host a Research Town Hall on Monday, June 8th from 3:00 – 4:30 pm. Personnel from EHS, Human Resources, Facilities Management, and members of the Research Continuity Task Force and ORA staff will be available to answer questions.

To register for the Research Town Hall, use your Active Directory sign-on at https://ucsdcloud.sharepoint.com/sites/vcrth. Please use your @ucsd.edu login.
