We are delighted to announce the appointment of Matthew Proctor as the Director of the Early Childhood Education Centers (ECEC), an auxiliary unit of the Resource Management and Planning Vice Chancellor area. The Director is responsible for ensuring high quality early childhood care and education to more than 200 children, ages 3 weeks through kindergarten, serving a highly diverse community.
Mr. Proctor is an alumnus from UC San Diego in Human Development with over 20 years of experience in the Early Care and Education field. His experience started at ECEC with his senior project and his experience progressed in early education through many different roles. He was a behavior analyst and lead teacher of a private school before opening his own childcare business. He returned to UC San Diego as a preschool teacher at ECEC. Over the next decade Mr. Proctor became a lead teacher and then progressed to the Center Coordinator for MCDC, then a new expansion to the Centers. Mr. Proctor was instrumental in the creation of the MCDC childcare program emphasizing the importance of social, emotional development and well-being, play-based learning, and a Reggio inspired curriculum.
His tenure at MCDC created a very successful and popular childcare program. He has developed strong relationships and has received numerous positive accolades from both the teachers he leads and the families he serves. In his own words his vision is βto provide the highest quality education for our next generation of leaders β the beautiful, diverse, and wonderful children that we serve.β
