JANUARY-DECEMBER 2007 SPECIAL NOTICE: The UCSD Policy and Procedure Manual was discontinued in paper form effective January 1, 1999. The former campus paper manuals have been replaced by documents converted to electronic format. All new and updated policies are in html format. We are in the process of providing Exhibits and Supplements in both HTML and PDF formats for ease of viewing, filling in forms, and printing documents. All new revisions should be complete, older policies are being updated on an ongoing basis. Changes were made to the following items: I. Retirement - OPEB and Benefit Administration, V. Workers' Compensation Insurance, VII. Unemployment Insurance, X. Incentive Award Program and XI. Staff Recognition Development Award.

10-0.6 Vice Chancellor-Research Organization Chart The Vice Chancellor-Research Organization Chart has been updated to reflect the appointment of Associate Vice Chancellor for Research George Tynan as well as other personnel changes within the Organized Research Units. These changes became effective 8/6/2007.

230-20 Appointment of Academic Personnel The revision clarifies the content and significantly improves the presentation of UCSD's academic appointment policy. The revised policy and updated supporting documents encompass suggestions from the Academic Senate, including the Committee on Academic Personnel (CAP) and the Committee on Affirmative Action and Diversity (CAAD), as well as other members of the campus community. 230-15 Academic Leave Policy Academic Leave Policy, PPM 230-15, has been updated to include a flexible workload program for assistant ladder-rank faculty. This policy is effective 5/1/07.
MAY APRIL SECTION 420 - BUILDING AND SPACE
420-7 UCSD Antenna and Dish Policy UCSD Antenna and Dish Policy is intended to direct the appropriate siting of wireless dish antenna equipment and facilities to provide enhanced telecommunications services to the campus, while reducing the visual impact of such facilities to the campus and surrounding community. This policy is effective 3/1/2007. effective 5/1/07.

Use of UCSD Building Permit Use of UCSD Building Permit, PPM 420-3, states that no erection, construction, alteration, repair or improvement shall be performed on university property without a Building Permit. This policy is effective 1/1/2007.
FEBRUARY SECTION 470 - GENERAL COUNSEL

Appointment of a UCSD Notary Public Appointment of a UCSD Notary Public, PPM 470-5, provides guidance in obtaining a notary public commission and establishes local guidelines for notary services to be provided by campus notaries within the scope of their job duties and in fulfillment of the mission of the University. This policy is effective 2/27/2007.
516-7 Controlled Substances For Research, Teaching, And Veterinary Care Controlled Substances for Research, Teaching and Veterinary Care, PPM 516-7, sets forth policy and responsibilities applicable to the authorization, procurement, receipt, security, storage, control, biennial inventory, and disposal of Controlled Substances, List I and Precursor Chemicals for research, teaching and veterinary care. This policy does not apply to controlled substances dispensed by a practitioner to a patient.
