SUBJECT: Appointment of Assistant Vice Chancellor,
Development
I am pleased to announce the appointment of Richard S. Podgorski
as Assistant Vice Chancellor for Development. His
responsibilities will include providing leadership in planning
and implementing all of UCSD's development and fundraising
programs for the General Campus, Scripps Institution of
Oceanography, School of Medicine, and Medical Center.
Rick comes to UCSD from the University of Arizona College of Law,
where he has been Director of Development and Alumni Affairs.
Previously, Rick served as Corporate Director of Development for
Carondelet HealthCare in Tucson and Executive Vice President of
Carondelet's two charitable foundations. Prior to that, he held
two other positions at the University of Arizona, as the Director
of Development for the university's College of Arts and Sciences
and as the Director of Planned Giving.
He received a Bachelor's degree from Pennsylvania State
University and holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of
Arizona College of Law. He is a member of the State Bar of
Arizona and the Bar of the Federal District Court. Rick is
located at Torrey Pines Center North, third floor, and he can be
