OFFICE OF ASSISTANT VICE CHANCELLOR PERSONNEL May 27, 1993 KEY ADMINISTRATORS/KEY SUPPORT STAFF OFFICE MAIL DISTRIBUTION CONTACTS SUBJECT: Proposed Elimination of 1993-94 Range Adjustment for the Student Assistant Series Classifications It is proposed that no general range adjustments occur for the student classifications of Assistant I/II/III during fiscal year 1993-94. This action would be consistent with the decision to eliminate range adjustments for most classifications within the University of California as previously announced based on continuing budgetary constraints. Although most other employees will be subject to a temporary 5% salary reduction effective July 1, 1993, this reduction will not apply to students in casual-restricted positions or in student academic titles. At this time, it is anticipated that the University will have the ability to grant casual increases for student employees. The current proposal calls for half-year merits for staff employees and details have not been finalized about how this may impact the timing and amount of casual increases for students. Students or other interested parties wishing to comment on these proposals may do so by providing written comments by June 11, 1993. Comments should be addressed to Phyllis Walker, Assistant Director, Part-time Employment, Mail Code 0335 or by electronic mail. An open session has been scheduled (see below) at which time students and other interested individuals may personally present their comments. June 8, 1993 (Tuesday), 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. Career Services Center, Conference Room 106 Students employed in titles in the Assistant series in each department should be made aware of this announcement. The comments received during this consultation period will be carefully considered as the final decisions are made. QMW Quelda M. Wilson Assistant Vice Chancellor |
