ALL AT UCSD - EXCLUDING UCSD MEDICAL CENTER
SUBJECT: Implementation of the Official University Mailing Address
In 1985, the ZIP+4 Program was introduced at UCSD to initiate the process
of automating mail. In an effort to maintain economical mailing costs, the
U.S. Postal Service is rapidly building their technology on the ZIP+4
concept. Mail Service's goal is to implement this same technology. Using
the following "Official" University mailing address on all correspondence
and encouraging senders to do the same will expedite your incoming U.S.
Mail, intracampus mail and promote plans for University-wide automated mail
processing:
Line 1 OPTIONAL ADDRESS LINE
Line 2 OPTIONAL ADDRESS LINE
Line 3 9500 GILMAN DRIVE DEPT XXXX (MAIL CODE)
Line 4 LA JOLLA CA 92093-XXXX (MAIL CODE)
An additional alpha code may be added to the end of the DEPT Mail Code on
Line 3 only, if your department requires additional individualized sorting.
For Resident Students, the Official Mailing Address is as follows:
Line 1 OPTIONAL ADDRESS LINE
Line 2 OPTIONAL ADDRESS LINE
Line 3 9450 GILMAN DRIVE 92XXXX (LAST FOUR-BOX #)
Line 4 LA JOLLA CA 92092-XXXX (LAST FOUR-BOX #)
Please refer to PPM 553-5 for the appropriate ZIP+4 code and the proper
address format for Business Reply Mail (BRM).
Thank you for your cooperation. If you have any questions, please call
Mail Services on x-41164.
