OFFICE OF THE ASSISTANT VICE CHANCELLOR - HUMAN RESOURCES November 12, 1993 KEY ADMINISTRATORS/KEY SUPPORT STAFF SUBJECT: Proposed Revision to PPM/SPM 250-305.26 - Special Performance Award Staff Personnel Policy 250-305.26 regarding the Special Performance Award (SPA) Program is proposed for revision based on the findings of a systemwide committee that was established to review all of the University award programs. Among the committee's recommendations was the idea of expanding eligibility for the SPA program to all non-probationary career staff, not just those at the maximum of the salary range. The committee also recommended that team as well as individual awards be provided, either for development or as a lump sum cash award. These recommendations have been incorporated into the proposed policy revision of PPM/SPM 250-305.26. If adopted, the new policy would read as follows: Staff Personnel Program employees who have achieved regular status shall be eligible on an annual basis to apply or be nominated for Special Performance Awards. The Special Performance Award Program is intended to provide opportunities for professional development and recognize outstanding individual and team performance. The Chancellor shall establish campus procedures for awarding Special Performance Awards within guidelines issued by the Office of the President. This notice should be routed to affected employees in the Staff Personnel Program for their review. Comments regarding the proposed change are invited from affected employees, supervisors and managers. Please send your comments to Judy Johnson, Compensation Manager, at mail code 0922, or via electronic mail NO LATER THAN TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 23, 1993.
