SUBJECT: Student Health Service for Summer 1994
This summer the Student Health Service will be available to
all continuing undergraduate, graduate and medical students who
paid full registration fees for spring quarter 1993-94 for a one-
time, non-refundable fee of $75.00. The fee will provide services
from 6/13/94 to 9/16/94. Our hours are 8:00 am - 4:30 pm Monday -
Friday; we're closed from 12:00 - 1:00pm. The summer fee will provide access to all services covered by
the registration fee during the academic year (Urgent Care, Women's
Clinic and in-house laboratory and x-ray); services available at
special fees during the regular academic year (consultations,
laboratory procedures and tests performed elsewhere) will be
assessed the same rates during the summer. The summer fee is NOT
required for the use of Pharmacy, Dental or Vision services. Those
services will be available as usual on a reduced cost, fee-for-
service basis.
The $75.00 fee must be paid to the Student Health Service
cashier before receiving service. Students who were enrolled (and
paid reg fees) at other UC campuses during the spring quarter may
obtain services here by paying the $75.00 fee.
The Student Limited Insurance Plan (SLIP) is NOT in effect
during the summer for undergraduates. Undergraduates are
encouraged to enroll in the Voluntary Insurance Plan (VIP) to
obtain coverage for outpatient services such as emergency room use,
special laboratory and x-ray procedures and specialist
consultations in addition to certain inpatient benefits. Continuous insurance enrollment is also necessary to prevent
diagnosed and treated conditions from becoming subject to the
"pre-existing condition" exclusion.
Graduate, medical and international students who were
enrolled in the Graduate Student Health Insurance Plan (GSHIP)
during spring `94, will retain their benefits under that plan until
September 16, 1994. Students who are enrolled in GSHIP are also
enrolled in SLIP.
Summer Session students who were not enrolled at a University
of California campus for spring `94 and students who graduated in
June `94 may be seen on a fee-for-service basis. Additional information may be obtained by calling 534-3300 or
by visiting the Student Health Service.
