SUBJECT: | Proposed Policy Revisions SPP 215 and A&PS 115 Partial Year Positions |
On October 2, 1992, a notice was distributed informing the campus
of enhancements which were being made to the Partial Year
Position policies on an interim basis. The policy enhancements
were proposed in an attempt to encourage the establishment of
partial year positions in response to the University's budgetary
constraints. It is now proposed that these enhancements be
permanently incorporated into Staff Personnel Policy (SPP) 215
and Administrative and Professional Staff (A&PS) Policy 115.
Similar proposed policy revisions to Management and Professional
(MAP) Policies were announced to MAP members last May.
Partial year career positions are established as nine, ten, or
eleven month appointments. Proposed policy revisions include the
option of spreading pay over twelve months and the continuation
of the University's contribution to medical, life, optical,
dental, and disability insurance during the furlough period. The
scope of the policy has also been expanded, which allows partial
year positions to be established to accommodate fluctuations in
staff, budgetary, operational or other needs.
Individuals wishing to comment on these proposed policy revisions
may do so by contacting Denise Campbell at mail code 0922 or via
electronic mail no later than Wednesday, April 20, 1994.
