SUBJECT:    Illegal Use of the UCSD Electronic Mail System for Sexual Harassment

Sexual Harassment is defined as unwelcome and unwanted behavior
(visual, verbal or physical) of a sexual nature. Complaints regarding
letters of a sexually offensive nature via E-Mail at UCSD
have recently been reported to the Office of Sexual Harassment Prevention
and Policy (SHPP) and the Department of Fair Employment and Housing.

All members of the UCSD community should know that any use of the campus
E-Mail system for the purpose of distributing sexually offensive
materials is a violation of University policy. Individuals receiving such
materials through the electronic mail system should report these
incidences to June C. Terpstra, SHPP at 534-8297.

Persons identified as participating in the creation or distribution
of such materials will face disciplinary action pursuant to University
policy.
