Appointment of Associate Chancellor

I am pleased to announce that Professor Theodore Groves of the
Department of Economics will assume the position of Associate
Chancellor on August 1, 1994. Since joining the UCSD faculty in 1978,
he has served as Chair of his department and Chair, San Diego Division
of the Academic Senate. He succeeds Professor Tracy B. Strong, who
returns to the Department of Political Science after one and a half
years of outstanding service to this office.

The Associate Chancellor assists me in maintaining effective
relationships with the faculty, senior administrative staff, students,
the University of California Office of the President, and the San
Diego community. Professor Groves brings a wide range of academic
experience to these important responsibilities.
