Recent Appointments--Manager, Extramural Funds Accounting and Manager, Payroll

I am pleased to announce recent appointments to fill two key positions
of the Business and Financial Services leadership team. Emma Reyes
has accepted the position of Manager, Extramural Funds Accounting
Division (EMF), and Sally Brainerd has accepted the position of
Manager, Payroll Division.

Emma Reyes has nearly twelve years experience in EMF, with the last
six as Assistant Manager. Just prior to her appointment, Ms. Reyes
served as Acting Manager of EMF for over six months. Ms. Reyes
succeeds Margaret Espino who retired under the University's early
retirement program last November.

Sally Brainerd comes to us with many years experience in payroll and
financial management. Her most recent positions were with the Los
Angeles County Department of Public Works and the Los Angeles Economic
Development Corporation. Ms. Brainerd's previous higher education
experience was with CSU Northridge Foundation and Michigan State
University. Ms. Brainerd succeeds Don Suycott, who also elected early
retirement in November, 1993.

While both Ms. Reyes and Ms. Brainerd have significant expertise in
their respective fields, they are also both committed to providing
quality customer service to you. Please join me in congratulating
them both on these appointments and in welcoming Ms. Brainerd to the
University.
