SUBJECT:    Licensing Unpatentable Research Laboratory Devices

Many UCSD researchers may have invented small devices that aid in
their research. These useful inventions are rarely commercialized
because they do not command a sufficiently large commercial
market, or large scientific supply houses are simply not aware of them.
If you have invented a device that makes your research efforts faster,
more efficient, or improves your research capability in some other way,
you may be able to benefit from it without diverting efforts away from
your research.

There is a local company interested in these kinds of "orphan"
devices and would like to review them for suitability. Any income
received from these licensing efforts will be distributed as per the
University of California Patent Policy.

If you have such a device and are interested in having it reviewed for
commercial applicability, please call the Technology Transfer Office
at x45815. We will ask you to fill out a relatively simple form and
will advise the company of your invention. Please make this information
available to researchers in your area without email.
