SUBJECT: | Impact on Campus from Storms |
The major storm system we experienced last week wreaked havoc in many areas
of San Diego County. Thanks to the extraordinary efforts of hundreds of
UCSD staff members in safeguarding campus facilities, equipment, and other
resources, the damage to the campus was minor. Many staff members
throughout the campus worked day and night to complete preventative work,
make shift repairs, and clean up fallen trees and other debris. These
efforts included building barricades to prevent flooding and protecting
valuable property after skylights had been blown off of buildings.
According to the Weather Service, we have several more storm systems ahead
of us, indicating that the worst may still be to come. Thank you for your
hard work and loyalty, and please be careful and cautious over the next
several weeks.
