Staff Employee Associations

This is a reminder that a number of Staff employee associations have
received official recognition at UCSD and we encourage their activities and
programs. These groups hold regular monthly meetings and sponsor
educational programs. Employees who wish to participate in these
association meetings and programs must obtain supervisory approval in
advance to do so.

The UCSD Staff Association and a variety of approved Staff Affirmative
Action Associations foster communication among University entities, assist
in the recruitment and retention of a diversified workforce and pursue
other goals of mutual importance. For these reasons, I encourage all
supervisors to permit employees to attend the meetings and programs of
these associations as part of normal University business, when their job
responsibilities do not conflict with their participation.

A list of all recognized staff employee affirmative action associations may
be obtained from the Staff Affirmative Action Office.

Please post this notice and bring it to the attention of supervisors,
timekeepers and other appropriate department personnel.
