SUBJECT:    Management Fellow Position (107439-W)

THE FILING DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO APRIL 7, 1995

Term of Appointment: A one-year management-level assignment working
for the Vice Chancellor - Academic Affairs. At the conclusion of the
year, the incumbent may be renewed for a second year, the position may
become permanent, or the position may be discontinued. In the event
that the position is discontinued, the Fellow is guaranteed job
placement within Academic Affairs at a level equivalent to or above
the one they held upon entering the Fellowship.

Duties: Reporting to the Financial Officer for Academic Affairs, the
Fellow will be responsible for coordinating human resource efforts and
will serve as the liaison between Academic Affairs and the Human
Resources Department. The Fellow will be active in staff development
and recognition programs, classification reviews, merit increase input
and balance, quality of worklife initiatives, coordination of staff
affirmative action issues and other staff programs. In addition, the
Fellow will be exposed to and trained in matters of Academic
Personnel, budgeting, resource allocation and space planning. The mix
of these activities will depend on the background of the Fellow and
the current needs of the VCAA. It is expected that the Fellow will
conduct key analyses and represent Academic Affairs on campuswide
committees.

Compensation: The Fellow will continue at the level and salary of the
position they held upon entering the Fellowship. The Fellow will be
eligible for all range and merit increases that occur during their
tenure in the Fellowship. In addition, the Fellowship pays at least a
10% stipend for its duration. Minimum compensation for the Fellowship
is $48,000.

Eligibility: All staff employees who have passed their probationary
period and are currently employed full-time at UCSD are eligible to
apply. The Fellow need not come from a unit of Academic Affairs.
