SUBJECT:    Employment Opportunities Bulletin

The weekly employment bulletin has been the traditional means for providing
information about UCSD employment opportunities for employees, laid off
employees and external job seekers. It is the standard media for hiring
authorities to announce vacancies. Over the years, budget constraints and
increasing demand have forced us to reduce the number of printed copies
available as well as seek other avenues to disseminate vacancy information.
Several years ago, electronic distribution of the bulletin began on the
electronic mail system and on the InterNet via InfoPath. In 1994, the
telephone JOBLINE added basic job descriptions and applications via fax to
callers on a 24- hour basis. And more recently, the use of fax delivery
has been the distribution method for the bulletin to 80 local community
organizations and agencies.

We are looking forward to expanding the fax delivery system to the campus.
The weekly bulletin will be sent to designated fax machines in the evening
so that your equipment will not be tied up during business hours. Fax
machines with relay capability will permit the bulletin to be delivered to
other units in your department. Since the fax machine has become standard
equipment in most offices, we believe that this new form of distribution
will provide wider dissemination of the bulletin than in the past. Human
Resources will continue its practice of disseminating the bulletin to
department administration offices and requests that central department
administrators ensure delivery to employees within their units. If there
are questions about the distribution, please call Pat Wong at extension
42820.

Please assist us with the implementation by completing the following
questionnaire and returning it by July 21, 1995. The implementation of fax
distribution is anticipated to occur by September 1, 1995.

Thank you for your assistance.
