Senior Vice Chancellor Dynes and I are pleased to announce that Dr. Richard Feinberg will assume the position of Dean of the Graduate School of International Relations and Pacific Studies, effective July 1, 1996, succeeding Peter Gourevitch, who will return to full-time teaching and research as a faculty member at IR/PS and the Department of Political Science.
Dr. Feinberg has held numerous appointments during his distinguished career. He is currently Special Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs and Senior Director of the Office of Inter-American Affairs on the National Security Council at the White House. Prior to joining the NSC, Dr. Feinberg was President of the Inter-American Dialogue and Executive Vice President of the Oversees Development Council and has held positions on the Policy Planning Staff of the U.S. Department of State and in the Office of International Affairs in the U.S. Treasury Department. He received his Ph.D. in Economics from Stanford University and his B.A. from Brown University.
We are most fortunate to have Dr. Feinberg join us as a member of our faculty and as Dean of the Graduate School of International Relations and Pacific Studies. Please join me in wishing him every success and welcoming him to his new post.
