SUBJECT: Disability Awareness/Safety Fair at UCSD
A Celebration of Abilities will take place at the Price Center Plaza
area at the Disability Awareness/Safety Fair on October 16, 1996. An
exciting array of entertainment, educational presentations, safety
information and demonstrations, and office and laboratory equipment
displays will occur between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Faculty, staff,
students, and other community members are invited to participate. The
purpose of this day's activities is to increase the awareness of, and
sensitivity to, the abilities and needs of people with disabilities at
UCSD and to increase safety awareness.
The events are scheduled to take place around lunch hours to allow
many people the opportunity to attend. In recognition of this annual
event, I am approving a one-hour administrative leave with pay on
October 16 so that employees may attend. Supervisors may allow
employees one hour of release time to attend when the absence does
not infringe upon the performance of required job duties.
