Appointment - Interim Vice Chancellor - Development & University Relations

Members of the UCSD Community:

Bruce Darling, former Vice Chancellor for Development and University
Relations, has accepted and assumed the position of University of
California Vice President for University and External Relations,
effective November 1, 1996. Although the loss of Bruce's talents and
counsel will be felt throughout the UCSD community, I am pleased that
the entire University of California system will now benefit from his
considerable skill and experience.

A national search will be undertaken to select Bruce's successor.
Until that person is named Winifred Cox, Assistant Vice Chancellor for
University Communications, will be Interim Vice Chancellor for
Development and University Relations. Because of the critical momentum
of UCSD's fundraising activities, and the importance of these efforts
for units throughout the campus, in the interim I will also work closely
with Richard Podgorski, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Development.
