In response to a University-wide initiative to enhance our systems of accountability and control, Business & Financial Services (BFS) has been reorganized to effectively support this effort, as well as to continue to deliver and improve upon the level of service to our campus customers.
After a nation-wide search, Sally Brainerd, formerly Manager of Payroll at UCSD,
was appointed Associate Controller. Among her many duties, Sally will provide leadership and support to the following divisions of BFS: Bursar, Disbursements,
Mail Services, Material Support Services, Payroll, and Purchasing. Sally came to UCSD over three years ago with over twenty years' experience in government, higher education, and industry finance and accounting. Sally has her graduate degree in organizational development from Central Michigan University and her undergraduate degree in Accounting and Business from Eastern New Mexico University. To further support the accountability and internal control intiative, Nick Johnston has assumed the role of Associate Accounting Officer, in addition to his General Accounting Manager responsibilities. As Associate Accounting Officer, Nick will not only continue to provide leadership and support to the General Accounting Division, but also to Extramural Funds Accounting.
