"SOURCE...UCSD Hiring System" Applicant Information Session Invitation

In a continuing effort to adequately inform the UCSD community and
generate attention to the importance of the information sessions
regarding the UCSD new hiring system, this notice previously issued is
being reissued.

The Human Resources Department is piloting a job applicant skills
management system scheduled for full implementation by the first
quarter of 1998. Named "SOURCE," the system uses scan and recognition
technology to extract skills from job resumes and then stores the
information in a database. The new system should contribute to
significant operational improvements in the staff hiring process and
is designed to offer greater convenience and enhanced communication to
University staff seeking promotion and transfer opportunities at UCSD.

An important first phase in the implementation of "SOURCE" is
providing information on its workings to the UCSD community. One of
the major changes accompanying the new system is that resumes will be
used instead of applications. Thus, staff will need to understand
how to produce "scannable" resumes and also become knowledgeable
about the registration process for "SOURCE."

Human Resources has developed a series of one hour information
sessions to orientate the UCSD community about the new hiring
system, including one time registration for future career openings.
Members of Human Resources will be available at upcoming information
sessions to explain "SOURCE" and to also review resumes. Since
