PLEASE POST OFFICE OF ASSISTANT VICE CHANCELLOR - HUMAN RESOURCES October 12, 1998 OFFICERS OF THE ASSOCIATED STUDENTS UCSD KEY ADMINISTRATORS / KEY SUPPORT STAFF OFFICE MAIL DISTRIBUTION CONTACTS SUBJECT: Proposed Changes to Student Wages Consistent with the proposed range adjustment for non-exclusively represented Staff employees, a proposal is being made to increase the salary ranges for the student classifications of Assistant II-IV (Title Codes 4919-4921) by 2.0%. The only exception is the minimum of the Assistant II range, which will remain set at the state minimum wage of $5.75/hour. This would provide the following ranges: 4922 Assistant I no longer in use 4921 Assistant II $5.75 - $8.16/hour 4920 Assistant III $6.63 - $10.71/hour 4919 Assistant IV $9.18 - $18.87/hour These classifications have "By-Agreement" rates, therefore, individuals do not receive an automatic rate increase unless an increase is required to bring their rate up to the minimum of the range established for the class. The rate paid to individuals in these classes may be adjusted within the range at the discretion of the department, upon completion of the required twelve months on pay status. The increase may be any amount up to 4%. The proposed effective date for the above-mentioned range adjustment is October 1, 1998. Students or other interested parties who would like to comment on the proposed changes may do so by submitting written or electronic mail comments by November 12, 1998 to: Phyllis Walker, Assistant Director Career Services Job Opportunities Program, Mail Code 0335 mailto:pfwalker@ucsd.edu OR Judy Johnson, Compensation Manager Human Resources, Mail Code 0922 mailto:jjohnson@ucsd.edu Student employees should be made aware of this announcement. The comments received during this consultation period will be carefully considered prior to final decisions being made. Rogers Davis Assistant Vice Chancellor-Human Resources |
