OFFICE OF THE CHANCELLOR

ALL AT UCSD (Including UCSD Medical Centers)

SUBJECT:    UCSD Work/Life Programs and Services

As a component of the Office of the President's efforts to encourage
promotion of work/life efforts, I have been invited to acknowledge my
support of University-sponsored programs that help us to manage our
professional and personal lives. I am pleased to express my strongest
support of the work/life policies, procedures, programs and services
available to the UCSD community.

Indeed, there are a significant number of dynamic programs and services
available at UCSD. These work/life programs encompass child care; elder
care assistance and referral; health and welfare benefits, financial
management and retirement planning; education and professional
development; recreation and employee well-being activities; publications
such as the UCSD Times and UCSD Health Sciences NEWS which were designed
to inform the campus community about current and coming events, programs,
services and individual and organizational achievements; the Faculty and
Staff Assistance Program (FSAP); and flexible work arrangements
(e.g.,telecommuting).

I am inviting and encouraging the campus community to continue seeking
creative ways to promote and support work/life programs and services at
UCSD.
