SUBJECT: UCSD Healthcare - Open Enrollment
University of California employees have an opportunity to make changes
in their benefits packages during Open Enrollment, which is taking place now through November 23.
As you review your health plan benefits, if you haven't already selected
a UCSD Medical Group physician as your primary care provider, I encourage you to take a look at UCSD's superb system of physicians and services. I have received my health care from UCSD physicians for many years and can attest to the exceptional quality of the care and services provided in UCSD's outpatient care facilities and hospitals. In fact, in a recent statewide survey of medical groups by one of the large health plans, UCSD physicians earned the highest score awarded for preventive screening.
What distinguishes UCSD Medical Group, the region's only university-based
physician practice, from other medical practices? You know that our
university is renowned as a premier research institution, where innovation
leads to advances in knowledge and technology. Our system of patient
services draws upon the expertise of faculty physicians and researchers who are leaders in their fields, and who are pioneering the development of improved diagnostic techniques and treatments.
Patients travel from around the world seeking the specialized care provided
by UCSD's internationally recognized experts in children's and women's
services, heart and lung disease, cancer, orthopedics, organ
transplantation, neurological disorders, conditions of the eye, and a range
of other medical and surgical specialty areas. By selecting a UCSD primary care physician from internal medicine, family
practice, ob/gyn or pediatrics and adolescent medicine, you and your family
also have available to you the considerable resources of UCSD Healthcare.
UCSD Medical Group physician offices are conveniently located in La Jolla,
Hillcrest, Mira Mesa, Tierrasanta and Encinitas. Urgent care and emergency
care are among the services provided at UCSD Thornton Hospital in La Jolla
and UCSD Medical Center in Hillcrest. In order to expand and improve services for patients, several new primary
care and specialty physicians recently have been added to the UCSD faculty.
You can choose a UCSD Medical Group primary care physician through all of
the health plans available to UC employees except Kaiser. By selecting UCSD Medical Group, you and your family members can feel
confident that you have ready access to health care at the leading edge of medicine. Robert C. Dynes
